  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Tools

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Iron
  • 1 Spatula
  • Paper Towels
  • 2 Spoons

Steps

  • To prepare crispy Abruzzese Ferratelle with cocoa, first, in a clean and dry bowl, beat the egg with the sugar until you obtain a fairly light and frothy mixture.

  • Work the mixture well and add the baking powder, incorporating it thoroughly.

  • Pour in the sunflower oil.
If you like, you can also add some rum drops and mix with the whisk.

  • Add the flour and some of the cocoa and continue to mix well.

  • Add the remaining cocoa, incorporating it well using a spatula for this operation.

  • Once you obtain a fairly thick mixture, grease an iron with a little sunflower oil, distributing it with some paper towels.

  • Heat it up and pour in half a tablespoon of the mixture.
Wait a good minute and a half before opening the iron and checking the cooking.
If it’s right (each iron has its own time), remove the ferratella and let it rest.

  • Continue this way until the batter is finished and fill them as you like at the moment or simply enjoy them as they are.
