  • to taste rum flavoring (a few drops)
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil (plus some for the griddle)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Tools

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Griddle
  • 1 Spatula
  • Paper Towel
  • 2 Spoons

Steps

  • To prepare the Crunchy Abruzzese Ferratelle with Cocoa, first, in a clean and dry bowl, beat the egg with the sugar until you obtain a fairly light and frothy mixture.

  • Mix the batter well and add the baking powder, incorporating it well.

  • Pour in the sunflower oil.
If desired, you can also add some drops of rum and mix with the whisk.

  • Add the flour and part of the cocoa and continue to mix well.

  • Add the remaining cocoa, incorporating it well using a spatula.

  • Once you have a fairly thick batter, grease a griddle with a little sunflower oil, spreading it with a paper towel.

  • Let it heat up and pour half a tablespoon of batter onto it.
Wait a good minute and a half before opening the griddle to check the cooking.
If it is cooked properly (each griddle has its own timing), remove the ferratella and let it rest.

  • Proceed this way until the batter is finished and fill them as desired at the moment, or simply enjoy them as they are.
