Mozzarella Roll with Asparagus

Mozzarella roll with asparagus and cooked ham, an easy and tasty appetizer that requires very little cooking, just that of the asparagus! Click here to read my latest recipe with asparagus.

This recipe, very spring-like, is really simple to make.

My advice is to use thin asparagus or wild asparagus, which require less cooking and are easier to handle while wrapping them in the mozzarella sheet.

You can find rolls in many different versions on my blog, with and without omelets.

Here are a few ideas to copy below.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 1 Hour
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Cooking methods: Boiling
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Spring

Ingredients

  • 1 roll mozzarella (ready-made)
  • 4 slices cooked ham (not thin)
  • 7 oz asparagus
  • 2.5 tsp coarse salt

Tools

  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Parchment Paper

Steps

  • To prepare the Mozzarella Roll with Asparagus, first clean the asparagus.

Remove the harder part of the stem and peel the outer part, if necessary, with a peeler, but only if it’s tough.

Blanch them in a large pot or pan in plenty of salted water for 10 minutes.

Drain them and let them cool in a bowl of ice-cold water.

  • On a sheet of parchment paper, arrange the two slices of cooked ham slightly overlapping.

Place the mozzarella sheet, previously dried with a paper towel.

Pat dry the asparagus as well and place them on the mozzarella sheet.

Roll up gently using the parchment paper to help.

Twist the ends like a candy.

Let it rest in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

  • Let it rest for 15 minutes at room temperature before slicing into not-too-thin slices.

  • And here is a ready, easy, and tasty spring appetizer.
