Ingredients
- 18 oz spinach (bagged)
- 2.5 tbsp butter
- 1/3 cup cheese (grated, to taste)
- 1 pinch fine salt
- 1/2 cup water (only for fresh or bagged spinach)
Tools
- 2 Pans
- 1 Spoon
- 1 Colander
- 1 Bowl
Steps
To prepare the spinach with butter and parmesan, first let me describe how to handle the chosen type of spinach.
I used pre-washed and cleaned bagged spinach, just put them in a large pot with 1/2 cup of water and let them wilt over a low flame for about 5-6 minutes. You can also cover them with a lid and stir occasionally.
For fresh spinach, remove the part of the stem with roots and wash the leaves several times under cold running water. Rinse several times to remove any soil residues.
Cook as above.
For frozen spinach, put them frozen in the pan without adding anything. Let them soften over a low flame, always stirring occasionally. Estimated cooking time, 10 minutes.
Once ready, drain the spinach very well in a colander, in a bowl, pressing them with a fork to remove excess water. Let cool.
In a pan, melt the butter.
Add the spinach, stir well over a low flame for 5 minutes.
Add the grated cheese and turn off the heat.
Adjust salt to taste.
Serve this side dish hot, with meat dishes.
