FRENCH TOAST

  • To prepare these delicious French toast, first cut the brioche bread into slices about 1 1/4 inches thick and cut them in half to form triangles.

Mix the eggs, milk, and cinnamon in a bowl. Beat with a whisk or a fork until you get a homogeneous liquid mixture.

Then dip the brioche slices on each side in the milk and eggs and place them on a plate.

Heat the butter and sugar in a pan.

When the sugar and butter start to caramelize, add the brioche slices and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side, until well caramelized.

Place the triangles on a plate and add blueberries and strawberries for decoration, or any other fruit you like. Dust with powdered sugar or decorate with maple syrup or honey.

What kind of bread should you use for French toast? The key to great French Toast is using the right bread.

Too thin and it absorbs all the egg mixture and becomes too fragile to transfer or even flip in the pan.

Too thick and it won’t cook completely inside when the outside is perfectly crispy.

For French toast, the best bread for me is brioche bread cut into 1 1/4 inch slices, but sandwich bread is also fine.

In France, for example, many cooks prefer slightly stale or old bread (lost bread) when preparing this delicious breakfast dish because it absorbs the right amount of egg mixture and leaves that crispiness on the outside that we love so much.
