Apple Fritters

Apple fritters are a quick dessert prepared during Carnival days, although in my opinion, they are good all year round.

Really simple to prepare, these fried apples originate from Trentino Alto Adige.

During Carnival we never miss out on fried sweets, they are really good, aren’t they? In my home, we usually prepare frappe or castagnole… and what do you prepare?

Try this little recipe, so delicious and quick, and write in the comments what you think of it!

If you make this or any of my other recipes on my blog, feel free to send me your photos and I will post them on my Facebook page with your name.

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Inexpensive
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 people
  • Cooking methods: Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Winter, Carnival

Ingredients to Make Apple Fritters

  • 2 Apples
  • 1 Lemon juice
  • Sunflower oil (for frying)
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 2/3 cup Whole Milk (whole)
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Vanilla
  • 3 tbsp Powdered sugar

Preparation of Apple Fritters

  • First, prepare the batter by mixing the egg yolk with sugar, then gradually add milk and flour until all the quantity is used, then add vanilla and continue to stir until the ingredients are well incorporated.

Separately beat the egg white to stiff peaks and fold it into the batter with a spoon; place it in the fridge.

Now peel the apples, cut into slices about ¼ inch thick, and then remove the core with the appropriate tool, sprinkle the apples with lemon juice and mix a bit to ensure the juice covers all the slices.

Now heat the oil for frying, dip each slice in the batter, and cook in hot oil, turning once golden.

Drain on absorbent paper, once all are cooked, place them on a plate, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.

My name is Francesca Mele, and "Lo scrigno del buongusto" is the name of my blog. I am a true Abruzzese, and after several years with a cooking website, I decided to start a blog. I have been online for a total of 12 years now, so many of you have known me for a long time! I love cooking and I am neither a chef nor a professional cook; I simply have a passion for cooking, preparing, and inventing new dishes. The recipes you find on my blog are not copied, and even the photos are not downloaded from the internet; they are my own.
