Basic Béchamel Sauce Recipe

The basic béchamel sauce recipe is one of those really simple and quick preparations, but sometimes we buy it already made for speed and convenience, yet it takes really little time.
In the end, with a bit of butter, milk, and flour, we prepare it and can store it in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Especially on those days when I’m making lasagna, cannelloni, and filled pasta in general where I need to use béchamel sauce, I prepare it myself, so I make everything genuine from start to finish.
To be honest, I use only a little because it’s not very appreciated at home.
Despite all this, béchamel is one of the most used sauces in cooking and is indeed used in many dishes.
So all that’s left is to follow my recipe!!!

Once the butter is melted, turn off the heat and add the flour, mixing well.

Return the saucepan with butter and flour to the heat and gradually add the warmed milk, mixing well and being careful not to create lumps. Once all is added, adjust with salt, nutmeg, and pepper if desired.

Cook for 5-6 minutes or until a smooth cream is obtained, then turn off the heat and stir again to prevent a film from forming on the surface during cooling.

Stir occasionally until it is cooling.

Now the béchamel is ready for all our preparations.

My name is Francesca Mele, and "Lo scrigno del buongusto" is the name of my blog. I am a true Abruzzese, and after several years with a cooking website, I decided to start a blog. I have been online for a total of 12 years now, so many of you have known me for a long time! I love cooking and I am neither a chef nor a professional cook; I simply have a passion for cooking, preparing, and inventing new dishes. The recipes you find on my blog are not copied, and even the photos are not downloaded from the internet; they are my own.
