Crispy Spiced Tarallucci

Crispy spiced tarallucci are a delightful snack that satisfies you at any time of the day, truly tasty.
They are not the classic crunchy tarallucci, but are more crumbly.
To make them really appetizing and flavored as I like, I added dried oregano to the dough, but of course, if it’s not to your taste, you can also add other types of spices.
Simply make a dough with your hands to create a firm ball, then cut small ropes not too thick, shape them into rings and bake them… they will be done in about 15 minutes.
A dough to prepare quickly and also the cooking goes pretty fast… once cooked and cooled, they can be stored in a plastic or paper bag.
Now it’s time to try the recipe, I look forward to your comments!!!
If you make this or any of my other recipes, send me the photos and I will post them on my Facebook page with your name.

Crispy Spiced Tarallucci
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Inexpensive
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 35 tarallucci
  • Cooking methods: Electric oven, Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients for making Crispy Spiced Tarallucci

  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch baking powder for savory pies
  • 1/2 tbsp dried oregano

Preparation of Crispy Spiced Tarallucci

  • In a bowl, mix the olive oil, water, dried oregano, salt, and baking powder for savory pies, then gradually add the flour.

The dough will seem stubborn at first, but eventually, turn it onto a work surface and knead for a few minutes to get the right consistency.

If it seems too crumbly while kneading on the work surface, add 1 tablespoon of water and continue kneading.

Once the right consistency is achieved, take pieces of dough, roll them into ropes about the length of a finger and a 1/2, not too thick, and shape into rings.

  • Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, place the taralli on it and bake in a preheated oven at 428 °F for 15 minutes.
