Original waffle recipe, a typical Belgian dessert, also very popular in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and are soft inside and slightly crispy outside with their typical lattice pattern.
They are generally cooked in an electric iron, but I baked them in a silicone mold in the oven and I must say it does not envy the electric iron at all.
They are served at breakfast or as a snack and decorated with fresh fruit, apples, jam, chocolate, you can have fun to your liking, I spread Nutella on them! This is the Northern European version, but there are other versions, such as those from Brussels made with yeast and called Gaufre.
For now, I leave you the original version of this delicious dessert, and I’m sure you’ll want to try it and never leave the recipe again, they are too good!!!

Ingredients to make the Original Waffle Recipe
- 2 Medium eggs
- 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup Whole milk
- 5 1/2 tbsp Soft butter
- 7 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 tsp Liquid vanilla or one sachet of powder
Tools
- 1 Mold Electric waffle iron
Preparation of the Original Waffle Recipe
First, separate the eggs by placing the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another, whip the whites with half the sugar and set aside.
Mix the yolks with the sugar, then add the warm milk, softened butter and mix, add the vanilla, baking powder, and salt and mix well.
Finally, but not least, add the flour, incorporating the dough well.
Lastly, fold in the whipped egg whites by hand, being careful not to deflate the mixture.
Now, if you cook the waffles in the electric iron, be sure to grease it and then put the batter and cook; if, like me, you bake them in the silicone oven mold, you can bake in a preheated oven at 392°F (200°C) for about 15 minutes.
Once cooked, let them cool slightly and decorate as desired. I used Nutella and walnuts, but of course anything to your liking will do.Follow me on Facebook Pinterest Twitter Instagram Youtube Telegram
