The red pizza with sausage is the first on the list when I think about how to top pizzas. When it’s pizza night at home, this is the best for our taste buds!
Yes, it’s true it’s a bit heavy, but the crumbled sausage on the pizza is really exceptional. In fact, I use it in many savory leavened recipes.
Make sure to find decent sausage because the ones on the market almost always have antioxidants and when you cook them, they turn fuchsia… a good sausage turns gray when cooked!
In my home, pizza on Saturdays or Sundays is a ritual, but I try not to make it every week, although especially in winter my son complains when I try to skip a week.
As you can see from the photo, my pizzas are thin, but obviously, if you make slightly thicker crusts, you will get thicker pizzas. Adjust according to your taste!
If you make any of my recipes, send me the photos, and I will publish them on my page with your name.
Try my pizza and let me know!

Ingredients to make Red Pizza with Sausage
- 1.75 cups lukewarm water
- 0.35 oz fresh yeast
- 6.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp heaping salt
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- 12 oz sausage meat
- 9 oz mozzarella

- 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil

- 2 Pans Baking Pans
Preparation of Red Pizza with Sausage
Take a medium-large bowl, put the lukewarm water, the yeast, and let dissolve.
Add 150 g of all-purpose flour, mix, then add the salt, the sunflower oil, and finally complete the dough with the remaining flour until a compact but soft dough is formed.
Leave to rise in a large container, covered with plastic wrap for at least 2 hours or until doubled.
Pass the tomatoes through a food mill, put them in a bowl and season with extra virgin olive oil, salt, and oregano, and set aside.
Once risen, transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead it again to obtain a dough ball.
Roll out the dough into sheets and place them on previously greased baking pans, top with the prepared tomato sauce, add crumbled sausage, and mozzarella.
Bake the pizzas in a preheated oven at 482°F for about 10-15 minutes, checking the cooking.
