The red rice with grains is a dish I made by cooking it like a classic risotto, but what sets it apart is the addition of grains, which makes it rich in flavor.
Red rice is a variety of whole grain rice that stands out for its natural red color, with a slightly crunchy texture.
When, as in this case, the red rice is combined with grains, it creates a complete dish that promotes a balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and fibers.
It can be enriched with legumes and vegetables, so we can choose the combinations based on our imagination.
I bought the red rice already combined with grains, but you can also purchase everything individually and make your combinations; in fact, cooking times will vary based on what you buy.
It took me about 30 minutes to have the dish perfectly cooked.
If you make this recipe, or others from my blog, feel free to send me a photo of your recipe, and if you like, I will post it on my FB page in your name.

Ingredients for making Red Rice with Grains
- 6 oz red rice with grains
- 1 onion (small)
- 1 bouillon cube
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- to taste salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 0.35 oz butter
- 1.76 oz grated Parmesan cheese
Tools
- 1 5-grain rice
Preparation of Red Rice with Grains
In a deep non-stick pan, put the oil and finely chopped small onion, let it brown for a couple of minutes, then remove from heat and add a glass of water with a bouillon cube and return to heat.
In a separate small pot, keep water warm to add to the rice as needed.
As soon as the liquid resumes boiling, pour in the red rice with grains, stir and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and add water as needed.
Add a pinch of pepper and towards the end of cooking, taste and add a little salt if needed.
The cooking will take about 30 minutes, but not all brands have the same cooking times.
Once cooked, turn off the heat, add the butter, mix well, plate, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
