Lemon Swirls

Lemon Swirls… Soft and Fragrant.
Fragrant and delicious, perfect for breakfast and snack, they are very simple to make. The lemon swirls are soft, good, and genuine sweets that never tire and, once tasted, you will want to replicate them endlessly.

Ingredients for the lemon swirls

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or type 0 or 1)
  • 1/4 cup oz powdered sugar (or granulated)
  • 1/4 cup oz Oil
  • 3 1/2 tbsp oz milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp oz baking powder
  • 2 lemons (Grated zest)
  • 2 1/2 tbsp oz Granulated sugar

Steps for the lemon swirls

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and powdered sugar well.
    Add the warm milk gradually, a pinch of salt, and then the oil. At this point, add the egg.
    Start kneading with your hands. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and work it until a soft and homogeneous dough is formed.
    Roll out the pastry with a rolling pin to create a rectangle of 10 inches in width and 14 inches in length.

  • Work the grated lemon zest with sugar for a few minutes. Then spread it evenly with your hands over the pastry rectangle.
    Cut into strips about 1 1/4 inches wide.
    Roll each strip onto itself to form the swirl. At the end, slightly wet with water using a finger to seal the closure.
    Place the swirls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    Bake at 356°F in a preheated static oven for about 20 minutes.
