The 5-minute yogurt and apple cake is a wholesome and very soft dessert thanks to the yogurt, which gives the dough significant softness. To prepare it, you’ll need a bowl, a hand whisk, and scales; with just a few simple ingredients, you’ll get a delicious cake perfect for breakfast and snacks for the little ones.
The recipe is really quick, ideal when you have little time but don’t want to give up a soft slice of homemade cake. The 5-minute cakes are great, their quick preparation makes them extremely soft and accessible to everyone, even those with little experience in the kitchen. My favorite variations are the 5-minute ricotta cake and the 5-minute clementine ring cake.
To make an excellent apple cake, I recommend using Renette or Golden apples, two slightly tart varieties that hold up very well during cooking. If you like, you can add a teaspoon of cinnamon or a handful of coarsely chopped nuts to the dough.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 125 plain natural yogurt
- 2/3 cup peanut oil (or other seed oil or 6 tbsp of soft butter)
- 2 eggs
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange zest (grated or lemon)
- 3 Golden Delicious apples (or Renette)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Tools
- 2 Bowls
- 1 Hand whisk
- 1 Scales
- 1 Cake pan springform pan with a 9.5-inch diameter
Method
Place the eggs in a bowl, add the sugar, and mix well. Add the yogurt, oil, vanilla, and orange zest, incorporating everything.
In the other bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder and set aside.
Wash the apples, peel them, remove the core, and cut one into small cubes, about 1/4 inch, and the other two into slices.
Pour the liquid ingredients, a little at a time, into the bowl with the dry ingredients, mixing with the whisk until you get a lump-free batter.
Add the apple cubes and mix.
Pour the mixture into the greased and floured mold, distribute the apple slices over the surface, and finish with the brown sugar.
Bake the cake in a preheated static oven at 350°F for 35 minutes.
Do the toothpick test to check the cooking, if necessary, extend it for a few more minutes.
If the surface of the cake tends to darken too much, cover it with a sheet of aluminum foil.
The 5-minute yogurt and apple cake is ready, let it cool completely and serve.
