Apple Cake in Air Fryer
I really love apple cakes, I’ve tried so many over the years, and today I thought of presenting it in a more modern way by baking it in an air fryer. As you know, the air fryer is a high-power convection oven, it cooks faster and tends to dry out the outer part of foods or desserts a lot, so you’ll need to find the right temperature for your model, generally a cake with a diameter of 8/9 inches cooks at about 320/330°F for 30/35 minutes.
I own three different models, two are the classic air fryers you find everywhere with a basket of 7 liters, and one, which I use the most, is as big as a small oven (it was a gift from Cecotec a few years ago), honestly, it’s the most convenient because it allows me to use the same molds I use in the classic oven.
Today I offer you a very quick apple cake both in preparation and cooking, to make it I used the dough for my 5-minute apple cake, to prepare it you’ll need a bowl, a hand whisk, and a scale; with a few simple ingredients you’ll get a delicious cake perfect for breakfast and the snack of the little ones.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 10 tbsp milk
- 1/3 cup butter (soft)
- 2 eggs (medium)
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp lemon zest (grated)
- 2 Golden Delicious apples (large, about 12 oz net weight)
Tools
- 2 Bowls
- 1 Hand Whisk
- 1 Scale
- 1 Cake Pan 8.5 inches diameter for air fryer
- 1 Air Fryer
Steps
Wash the lemon very well under running water, grate the zest and set aside.
Wash the apples, peel them, and slice them to 1/4 inch, set aside (I put them in the fridge to prevent browning).
Butter and flour a 8.5-inch pan (a classic oven pan is fine, or disposable aluminum or paper ones)
In a bowl, mix the eggs with sugar using the hand whisk, add the oil, milk, vanilla, and lemon zest.
In the other bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder.
Pour the liquid ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients, stirring quickly with the whisk to obtain a homogeneous batter.
Transfer the mixture into the cake pan and distribute the apple slices on the batter.
If you have a smaller fryer use a 8-inch pan, fill it with the batter up to 3/4 of its capacity, and garnish with apple slices.
If you have leftover batter, pour it into individual muffin molds and put them in the fridge, you can garnish them as you like and bake them immediately after the apple cake.
Bake the cake in a preheated air fryer at 320°F for about 30 minutes, note that each fryer has a different power so you’ll need to find the correct temperature for your model, for cakes it’s around 320/330°F.
Do the toothpick test to check doneness, if necessary extend the cooking time by a few minutes, be careful not to overcook it otherwise it will become dry.
The apple cake in air fryer is ready, let it cool before removing it from the pan, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
