The marzipan dream chunk cookies are delicious pastries of German origin with a pronounced almond aroma. Very easy to prepare, they are so good that they will be gone in no time. Crumbly, tasty, and melt-in-your-mouth, they are a delicious gift idea for the Christmas holidays. On my blog, you can find other versions, but my absolute favorite is the variant with almonds and orange.
The recipe is very easy; it will take you just a few minutes to create a dough that needs to rest in the fridge for a short time, but this version is really special because inside the dough you will find tiny pieces of marzipan that will make them truly special or, as the blogger who created them says, “einfachmalene”, they are a dream that tastes like marzipan!
Like the coconut amaretti or the spitzbuben, they are perfect to include in your Christmas baskets in special decorated bags; the dream chunks keep for a long time, maintaining their fragrance.
If you are looking for Christmas cookies to give away that are quick and easy, here are some ideas:

- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Economical
- Rest time: 1 Hour
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 36 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Electric oven
- Cuisine: German
- Seasonality: Fall, Winter, and Spring, Christmas
Ingredients
- 1.6 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup almond flour
- 2 egg yolks egg yolks (approximately two and a half yolks)
- 9 tbsp butter
- 0.6 cup powdered sugar
- 1.8 oz marzipan
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 drops almond essence
- 0.6 cup vanilla powdered sugar
Tools
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Chopper
- 1 Rolling Board
- 1 Baking Tray
- Parchment paper
Method
Finely chop the marzipan using a chopper or a sharp knife.
Cut the butter into 0.4-inch cubes, place it in the bowl, and leave it out of the fridge for 10/15 minutes so it becomes soft. Add the powdered sugar, bitter almond essence, vanilla, and mix everything well.
Incorporate the chopped marzipan and egg yolks, then add the almond flour and all-purpose flour, and work everything quickly until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough.
Divide the dough into three parts and form three cylinders with a diameter of 0.8 inches, lay them on a tray, and let them firm up in the fridge for 30 minutes.
With a knife, cut cookies of 1.2 or 1.6 inches and place them on the baking tray lined with parchment paper; you can place them fairly close together because they do not contain leavening agents.
Put the baking tray in the fridge until the oven is at temperature.
Bake the cookies in a preheated static oven at 340°F for 10/12 minutes.
Let them cool slightly and dip them in a small bowl filled with vanilla powdered sugar; due to the heat, it will stick to the pastries. If necessary, when they are cold, make a second pass in the powdered sugar.
The marzipan dream chunk cookies are ready to enjoy or to give away.
