Halloween cookies are delicious monstrously soft and tasty orange treats, a reinterpretation of my Christmas crinkle cookies characterized by the intense red color and the delightful orange flavor.
Incredibly easy to make, they are ready in a few minutes, after a short rest you will need to create many small spheres, roll them in sugar, add the colorful eyes, and bake them for about 20 minutes; during baking, they will slightly flatten forming the typical cracks on the surface of this cookie.
I don’t really like Halloween, but I’ve wanted to make eyeball crinkle cookies since last year; I saw them on various American sites and they seemed really fun to make, and I can confirm it, today I made them with my daughter and we laughed a lot.
If you don’t want to use red gel food coloring, you can buy natural colorings, you can find them in well-stocked supermarkets or online.
If you like crinkle cookies, I recommend trying the soft coconut cookies or the almond ones, two irresistible variants.

Put the softened butter in a bowl, add the sugar, and beat it with electric whisks.
Add the egg at room temperature and, once incorporated, add the orange juice and zest and a teaspoon of red gel food coloring (or natural powder colorings).

After resting, form 1.25 oz balls and roll them first in granulated sugar then in powdered sugar.Place the cookies on the baking sheet lined with baking paper, slightly wet the undecorated side of the sugar eyes, and place them in the center of the cookies, pressing gently.
Bake the cookies in a preheated static oven at 340°F for 20 minutes, they should remain soft and double in volume.
Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet until completely cooled, then transfer them to a tray or decorated plate.
