The soft orange cookies are delightful treats that are prepared in no time and melt in your mouth. Easy, quick, and delicate, they have a pronounced orange flavor that makes them perfect for afternoon tea.
The orange cookies are a variant of the soft lemon cookies and the classic crinkle cookies, their texture differs from that of the classic cookie, it is a real pastry that was born many years ago in the United States and has been made in many versions. Characterized by a delicious crunchy crust created by the double layer of external sugar, they have a soft and melt-in-your-mouth center.
It will only take a few minutes to make the dough, which should rest in the fridge for 1 hour to achieve the perfect texture, then create many small spheres, pass them in sugar, and bake them for 12/13 minutes; during baking, they will slightly flatten, creating the small cracks typical of this cookie.

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 7 tbsp butter
- 1 egg (medium)
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tsp baking powder
- orange zest (grated, from one organic orange)
- to taste granulated sugar
- to taste vanilla powdered sugar
Tools
- 1 Bowl
- 2 Small bowls
- 1 Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Electric whisk
Procedure
Leave the butter at room temperature for 20 minutes so that it becomes soft. I do it with the microwave, just 30/40 seconds at maximum power.
Put the softened butter in a bowl, add the sugar, and beat it with an electric whisk.
While continuing to beat, add the egg at room temperature and, once incorporated, add the orange juice and zest.
Sift the flour with the baking powder, add it to the mixture, and work everything with your hands or a spatula until you get a homogeneous dough.
Form a dough ball and put it in the fridge for 1 hour.
After resting, form 20-gram balls and roll them first in granulated sugar and then in powdered sugar.
Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them well. They will increase in volume during baking. With this amount of dough, you will get 30 cookies.
Bake the cookies in a preheated static oven at 340°F for 12/13 minutes, they should remain light in color and soft to the touch.
Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet until completely cooled before moving them, they are very soft and risk breaking.
The soft orange cookies are ready to be served.
Tips
