BLT sandwich (United States)

BLT is the acronym for: bacon, lettuce, and tomato.

An American sandwich consisting of these three elements, which can also be further garnished with mayonnaise and filled with turkey or chicken.

The bread, white or whole wheat, may not be toasted, the bacon can be cooked or well-cooked, and the lettuce can be replaced with another type of salad.

The BLT became a trend in the USA at the end of the Second World War due to the proliferation of supermarkets, which made available a variety of raw materials all year round.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices white sandwich bread
  • 1 tomato
  • 3.5 oz bacon (sliced)
  • to taste lettuce
  • to taste mayonnaise

Steps

  • Cook the bacon in a pan.

    Toast the bread.

    Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one slice of bread. Fill with lettuce, sliced tomato, and bacon.

I used homemade bread with wheat flour and flax seeds thanks to my bread machine.
