Brazilian Dried Meat

Brazilian dried meat is called “charque”. It is a salted meat dried in the sun to preserve it for longer consumption.

Charque is highly salted and sun-exposed compared to other dried meats, being stacked like blankets in dry places for dehydration.

Jerked beef, dried meat and sun-dried meat are used as synonyms; however, the difference lies mainly in the preparation method.
