Hoeori Gamjia (Korea)

The Hoeori Gamjia 회오리 감, better known as tornado potatoes or twist potatoes, surprisingly instead of coming from the United States, are a famous Korean street food!

They were originally created by Jeong Eun Suk of “Agricultural Hoeori Inc.”, hence the name Hoeori gamjia (translatable as “Hoeori whirl”).

It involves a whole potato cut into a spiral, fried on a skewer, brushed with various seasonings such as spices, onion, cheese, or honey.

Sometimes a sausage can also be inserted inside.

In the photo, those tasted during our trip to Seoul in March 2025.
