The Marcus Honey Buns come from the second season of the TV series “The Bear”, of which, on the blog, you can find a collection of recipes.
The recipe concludes the Golden Globe Menu and is dedicated to Jeremy Allen White, winner for the third consecutive year of the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.
Marcus is the pastry chef at The Original Beef of Chicagoland and to improve his skills, in the second season, he temporarily leaves his terminally ill mother to go to Copenhagen.
Upon his return, he presents his new dessert menu and among these are the Honey Bunss, also in the “takeaway” version like the restaurant’s famous sandwiches.
The Honey bun is a fried leavened sweet with a swirl that contains honey and cinnamon in the dough and is glazed; normally sold individually packaged, alone or in boxes, in the United States they are a take-out breakfast snack.
Similar to Cinnamon Rolls, but instead of being drizzled with creamy cheese frosting after cooking, the raw dough is placed in a baking pan, drizzled with honey and subsequently glazed.
The sweet was created by Howard Griffin and is said to have been invented around 1954 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by the Griffin Pie Company.
