The lomo (or steak) a lo pobre is one of the many dishes contested between two nations, in this case by Chile and Peru.
The common elements in both countries are grilled meat, eggs, and french fries.
It is simply a slice of meat, eggs, and fried potatoes.
In Peru it is served with: rice, fried bananas, french fries, red onion and tomato salad.
And it is a dish served as lunch and not as breakfast as happens with other similar dishes.
“Pobre” means poor, so it probably refers to the inexpensive food that was consumed by workers.
It can be prepared with tenderloin, in Spanish lomo, or with a steak, such as a Brazilian patinho, or an American sirloin.
In Brazil, Portugal, and Argentina it is called: bife a cavalo and is usually served with beans and rice salad.
