The Rain Drops are a typical specialty of both Portugal and Brazil, named so because they resemble a raindrop (chuva).
➡They are made with wheat flour, eggs, milk, and baking powder or baking soda.
➡The batter is fried in hot oil, dropping it like a raindrop, and then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
➡Due to their easy preparation, they are regularly made in Brazil, Africa, and Portugal, where the batter tastes similar to the dough of the Bola de Berlin (known in Brazil as sonho), and they are commonly prepared at Christmas.
➡The rain drops originated in Portugal and became popular in Brazil thanks to the TV show and fantasy book Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, where the cook Tia Nastácia always prepared them for Pedrinho, Narizinho, and the rag doll Emília.
🍓Very often accompanied by chocolate I’ve opted for the Saporare strawberry compote Saporare dedicated to those who cannot or do not want to consume too much sugar and those who love natural and authentic flavors, made with a single ingredient: strawberry.
