FAQ SCONES with NUTELLA

  • Can I prepare Nutella scones in advance?

Yes, you can prepare them a few hours ahead and keep them at room temperature. They’re also great the next day slightly warmed.

  • Can they be cooked in an air fryer?

Yes, you can cook them in an air fryer at 320–338°F for a few minutes. They will be golden outside and soft inside.

  • Can I replace the Nutella?

Yes, you can use hazelnut cream or jam. White chocolate spread also works very well.

  • How should they be stored?

They stay soft for 1–2 days in an airtight container. You can also warm them slightly before serving.

  • Can I freeze them?

Yes, you can freeze them cooked and then reheat in the oven or air fryer when needed.

  • Why don’t scones turn out soft?

It usually depends on overworking the dough or inactive baking powder. Scones should be worked as little as possible to remain soft.

  • Why does the Nutella leak from the scones while baking?

If the amount is excessive or the dough is not well sealed, the spread tends to leak out. Better to use small portions well closed.

  • Can I make them without butter?

Yes 👍 you can replace butter with oil or yogurt, but the texture will be slightly different.

  • Which flour to use for soft scones?

Cake flour works very well. If you want a more rustic version you can use half all-purpose (00) and half whole wheat.

  • Why do scones become hard after baking?

Usually because they were overbaked or stored without an airtight seal. Better to consume them within 1–2 days.
