Ingredients

  • pieces savoiardi (ladyfingers) (about 180 g (6.3 oz))
  • 200 ml heavy whipping cream (about 3/4 cup (200 ml / ~6.8 fl oz))
  • 1 cup mascarpone (about 250 g (8.8 oz))
  • 2.4 fl oz limoncello (about 70 ml (total))
  • 1/4 cup water (about 60 ml (2 fl oz))
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (about 50 g (plus two tablespoons))
  • lemon zest (grated from two organic lemons)

Preparation of limoncello tiramisu

  • Place the water (about 1/4 cup / 60 ml) and 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
Turn off the heat, let the syrup cool, then mix it with about 1.7 fl oz (50 ml) of limoncello.
In a large bowl put the mascarpone, the whipping cream (still liquid but very cold from the refrigerator) and the remaining limoncello (about 0.7 fl oz / 20 ml) and beat everything with electric beaters until you obtain a thick, smooth cream.

  • Assemble your tiramisu.
Dip the ladyfingers in the syrup and limoncello mixture and create a layer on the bottom of a baking dish.
Cover the soaked ladyfingers with a layer of cream, then make another layer of ladyfingers soaked in the limoncello syrup and cover with another layer of cream.

  • Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
Meanwhile, mix the grated zest of two organic lemons with two tablespoons of sugar in a small bowl.
At serving time, decorate your limoncello tiramisu with the sugared lemon zest.
