Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas

Crispy air fryer chickpeas are an easy, quick, healthy snack that doesn’t compromise on flavor. They pair well with an aperitif with a nice glass of prosecco or spritz. They are made with just a few ingredients: all-purpose flour, salt, pepper, herbs, breadcrumbs. They then need to be cooked for about 25 minutes in the air fryer. Steps to make crispy air fryer chickpeas

  • To prepare crispy air fryer chickpeas, first drain the chickpeas from their liquid and rinse them well under running water. Then pat the chickpeas dry with some paper towels to make sure they are well-dried. Pour them into a bowl and add the flour, 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt, ground black pepper, and start mixing. Then add the herbs, I use pre-mixed ones with rosemary and sage, 1 scant teaspoon of sweet paprika, and finally the breadcrumbs. Mix everything well. Then transfer the chickpeas to the air fryer basket.

  • I placed them without parchment paper but if you have parchment paper specifically for the air fryer, you can use it. Lay the chickpeas well in the basket, they should not overlap but be close together. Cook them first at 356°F for 10 minutes, shaking the basket occasionally halfway through cooking. Then raise the temperature to 392°F and cook them for another 15 minutes. Let them cool slightly and then serve. They are also great paired with an aperitif!
