The crispy chickpeas in the air fryer are an easy, quick, healthy snack that still delivers on flavor. They also go well with an aperitif, paired with a nice glass of prosecco or a spritz. They are made with just a few ingredients: all-purpose flour (tipo 00), salt, pepper, aromatic herbs, and breadcrumbs. They are then cooked for about 25 minutes in the air fryer. Steps to make crispy chickpeas in the air fryer
To prepare the crispy chickpeas in the air fryer, first drain the chickpeas from their liquid and rinse them well under running water. Then pat the chickpeas dry with paper towels so they are well dried. Put them in a bowl and add the flour, 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, a pinch of salt, ground black pepper and start mixing. Then add the aromatic herbs (I use a ready mix that contains rosemary and sage), a scant 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika and finally the breadcrumbs. Mix everything very well. Then transfer the chickpeas to the basket of the air fryer.
I placed them directly in the basket without parchment paper, but if you have air-fryer parchment paper you can use it. Arrange the chickpeas well in the basket — they should not overlap but be close together. Cook them first at 356°F for 10 minutes, shaking the basket occasionally halfway through. Then increase the temperature to 392°F and cook for another 15 minutes. Let them cool slightly and then serve. Great also as an aperitif snack!
Storage and tips
You can store the crispy chickpeas in a container for a couple of days.
