Fresh potatoes in the air fryer

Fresh potatoes in the air fryer: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Have you finally given in to temptation and bought an air fryer, but don’t know where to start?
Don’t worry, it happened to me too!
To christen my new appliance I couldn’t choose anything other than a classic: fresh potatoes.
I wanted to understand whether the result was really comparable to traditional frying or oven baking, and I must say the surprise was huge.
Potatoes cooked with this method turn out incredibly crispy on the outside and tender at the core, just the way we like them, but with very little oil.
It’s the perfect recipe to test the potential of the air fryer and begin to get the hang of it.
For this experiment I used a very roomy air fryer, which allowed me to cook about 3 lb 5 oz of fresh potatoes in one go.
If your machine allows it, you can reach up to about 1.7 kg (around 3 lb 12 oz), the important thing is to follow a few small tips for even cooking.
The main secret?
Shake them well.
I recommend shaking the basket or stirring the potatoes at least 3 times during the cooking cycle.
This allows the hot air to circulate everywhere, preventing some from remaining too soft.
A common doubt is how to keep the appliance clean.
You can safely use parchment paper at the bottom of the basket to protect it from residues, or insert a round tray compatible with the dimensions of your air fryer. In this way, cleaning will be child’s play and your air fryer will last much longer.
This is only the first of a long series of air fryer recipes that I will publish here on the blog to help you make the most of it.
If you decide to try this recipe or my future experiments, send me your photos! I will be happy to publish them on my Facebook page with your name.
All that’s left is to peel the potatoes, turn on your air fryer and let yourself be amazed by their crunchiness.
Enjoy your meal!
