Mozzarella Balls – easy and quick finger food

in

I found the recipe for this finger food on Sale & Pepe and it seemed perfect. Then I read the preparation carefully: almost 7 hours of resting in total and I thought, for mozzarella balls? No, thanks.
So I made them my way, with chopped basil instead of parsley — more fragrant, in my opinion — and they turned out great. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, gone in five minutes.
If you want a stronger taste, replace the Parmesan with Pecorino. It works, you know, they’re delicious!!!!!!

MOZZARELLA BALLS
ASI’s Kitchen

Mozzarella balls recipe finger food
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very inexpensive
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Cooking time: 8 Minutes
  • Portions: 2–4 people
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 2 mozzarella balls
  • 1 egg (can also be omitted)
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan (Parmigiano Reggiano) (grated)
  • to taste basil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste vegetable oil (for frying)

Tools

  • Knives

Preparation

  • Coarsely chop the mozzarella and squeeze it very well with your hands to try to dry it as much as possible.

In a bowl put the egg, the flour, the chopped basil, the grated cheese (Parmesan), the mozzarella and a pinch of salt and pepper.

  • If you have time, leave the mixture in the refrigerator for about half an hour to firm up, but I made them without resting…..

With floured hands make balls from this savory mix which you will then roll again in flour and fry by immersing them in hot oil.

  • Let them brown for a few minutes, then turn them and remove them when you see them nice and puffed and crispy.

Drain them on absorbent paper and serve hot with your favorite red sauce to fully enjoy the stringy and flavorful taste of these very simple mozzarella balls!

    Have a great day!!!
