Steps
To make Rice Paper Rolls with Shrimp
First, heat a drizzle of sesame oil in a pan and once it’s hot, briefly cook the shrimp on both sides for about 5 minutes or until they are well cooked. Once done, turn off the heat and set aside.
Next, proceed to assemble the rolls: take a flat plate and fill it with room temperature water. Dip the rice paper in the water first on one side, then the other until it becomes limp.
At this point, lay the soaked sheet on a tray and place a leaf of lettuce, a handful of soybean sprouts, and a few shrimp in the center.
To finish, fold the outer edges of the roll inward and then roll up the whole length to form the roll.
Finally, place the rolls on a plate and serve with soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, or sweet and sour sauce.
Advice
When you wet the rice papers, do it for just a few seconds as they might become too soft and difficult to handle.
For a bold taste, serve the rolls with oriental sauces to dip them in before each bite!
