Preparation for Nutella Cookie Ducklings
Make the shortcrust pastry by first creaming the sugar with the softened butter, then add the eggs, the grated lemon zest, the flour and the baking powder. Knead quickly and, if necessary, add a little more flour. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or baking paper and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
Take the dough ball and roll it out on a sheet of baking paper with the help of a rolling pin. Using a round cutter, cut out many circles. Use a larger cutter for larger ducklings or a smaller one if you want smaller pieces.
Fill the center of each circle with a teaspoon of Nutella, fold and seal to form a half-moon, pressing the edges well. Then, using a pizza cutter, make cuts to form the wings. With another small piece of dough, roll it into a thin rope and place it on the rest of the dough; shape it with your hands to form the duck’s neck and head.
Do this with the remaining dough, then add chocolate chips to highlight the eye area and place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
COOKING
Bake the ducklings in an oven preheated to 356°F (convection) for about 15 minutes; as soon as they turn golden, remove them from the oven and, after cooling, dust with powdered sugar and serve!
