Ingredients for the butter shortcrust tart
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 6 tbsp + 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp cups butter
- 1 1/4 cups jam (cherry recommended)
Steps to prepare the butter shortcrust tart
In a bowl, work the softened butter with the sugar until you obtain a creamy mixture.
Add the egg and mix quickly with a fork. Finally add the flour.
Quickly work the dough with your hands to form a smooth ball.
Place it to rest in the refrigerator for a minimum of one hour.
Roll out the shortcrust dough on a floured surface and lay it inside a tart pan of 8 2/3–9 1/2 inches in diameter.
Trim the excess dough and fill the base with the jam.
Using the leftover shortcrust dough, create strips and lay them over the jam to form a decorative lattice.Bake in a preheated conventional oven at 356°F for 35-40 minutes.
Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool completely before removing it from the pan and serving.

The tart keeps for several days at room temperature covered with a food dome, or if you prefer, in the refrigerator; in the latter case the shortcrust may harden slightly.
