  • Portions: 7 servings
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

To make this soft loaf you only need a few simple ingredients that together create a tall, tender cake perfect for the whole family.

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 7 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 7/8 cup milk (warm)
  • 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 cups 00 (double-zero) flour
  • 1 sachet baking powder
  • Half sachet baking powder
  • flavoring (to taste)

Steps

Preparation is easy and quick: in a few steps you’ll get a tall, soft, and perfectly golden loaf.

  • Start whipping the eggs: Separate the yolks from the whites. Whip the egg whites with electric beaters with a portion of the sugar, but add the sugar only when the whites begin to foam. Beat the yolks with the remaining sugar for at least 15 minutes, adding the milk a little at a time and the flavoring you chose. You will obtain a very airy and soft batter.

Pour and bake Pour the batter into a loaf pan lined with parchment paper or buttered and floured. Bake at 356°F for about 35–40 minutes and always do the toothpick test: it should come out dry; adjust timing according to your oven. Once baked, let it cool in the pan, then enjoy — you can dust with powdered sugar if you like, but it’s delicious plain as well.
