UPSIDE-DOWN APPLE PUFF PASTRIES

in ,

Upside-down apple puff pastries are an easy and indulgent little dessert, perfect at any time of the day — for breakfast, a snack, or whenever you crave something tasty. I recommend eating them the same day so the puff pastry remains flaky; the next day they will still be good but the puff pastry won’t be as crisp as when freshly baked. For these apple pastries I used acacia honey; alternatively use a mild, creamy wildflower honey. I also suggest checking out DESSERTS WITH APPLES IN THE AIR FRYER, which are also simple and — thanks to air fryer cooking — don’t require preheating the oven. Now let’s see how to make the Upside-down apple puff pastries and if you try them let me know. Barbara

  • 1 Golden apple
  • to taste honey
  • to taste brown sugar

How to make the upside-down apple puff pastries

  • Let’s start preparing the upside-down apple puff pastries. Cut the puff pastry into 6 rectangles and prick them with the tines of a fork. Peel the apple, cut it into 4 quarters, remove the core, and slice into pieces about 1/4-inch thick.

  • Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and sprinkle a little brown sugar to form 6 spaced rectangles.

  • Arrange the apple slices over the sugar and drizzle with honey. Cover each cluster of apples with a rectangle of puff pastry and press lightly over the apples.

  • Bake in a preheated conventional oven at 356°F for 20 minutes. When cooked, let them cool slightly, then invert them, carefully detaching from the parchment paper.

  • If you like, dust them with powdered sugar or leave them plain as I did.

How to store the upside-down apple puff pastries

Store at room temperature for 1 day; after that the puff pastry will no longer be crispy.
