Baked apples: sweetness in simplicity. Apples are always so good and versatile and lend themselves to the preparation of a thousand and one Desserts with apples. They are the fruit that is never missing in my fridge in every season of the year. But is it true that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Yes, the apple is an almost perfect natural supplement. It’s rich in fiber, perfect for keeping blood sugar in check, rich in antioxidants and composed of 85% water. Many reasons to always keep one handy and use them in the kitchen to prepare a special dessert. It’s always hard to give up a slice of Apple Cake, but also special Mini Tarts with apples and jam. And if you love Desserts with apples you can’t miss my recipe for Soft Apple Cookies so good they melt in your mouth. Baked apples are not a dessert that tries to amaze with special effects or complicated preparations; they are a return to childhood, a scent that evokes rainy afternoons, lazy Sundays and that maternal care that comes through the warmth of a little ceramic bowl. Preparing apples and baking them is a ritual of aromas: cinnamon that pairs with sugar, the skin that cracks just enough to reveal pulp turned into cream, and that caramelized juice that settles at the bottom of the baking dish, ready to be collected with a spoon. I added sprigs of marjoram to my apples, an aromatic herb I really like, but you can replace it with sprigs of rosemary, mint or even powdered ginger. It’s the little sweet or snack for those who know that true happiness sometimes only needs a bit of warmth and smells of honey and cinnamon. The baked apple is the dessert that needs no introduction; it’s proof that often simplicity can be infinitely better than any complicated pastry. Let’s hurry to the kitchen and prepare together some delicious Cinnamon Baked Apples

Ingredients for Baked Apples
- 4 apples
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 sprig marjoram
- 1 1/2 tbsp butter
- to taste honey (for decorating)
How to prepare Baked Apples
Thoroughly wash the apples under running water. Cut each into 2 parts. Remove the core from the center with the help of a teaspoon. Place the apples cut-side up next to each other in a baking dish. Add on each half a tablespoon of brown sugar, a generous amount of ground cinnamon and a sprig of marjoram.
Place a little pat of butter on each apple half. Add about half a glass of water to the side of the baking dish; this will help cook the apples. You can bake the apples in the oven or in an air fryer. In the oven at 356°F (conventional) for 25 minutes. In the air fryer at 356°F for 20 minutes.
To test doneness, pierce them with a fork or check that the skin is wrinkled. Enjoy them still warm with a drizzle of honey or a teaspoon of apricot jam.

Loredana’s Tips
For even tastier apples you can add raisins or dried blueberries which will release their delightful sweetness during cooking.
Baked apples keep in a container for 1-2 days. I recommend warming them slightly before eating in the oven or microwave because they are best when warm.

Your questions
Which apple is best for making desserts?
The undisputed queen for making desserts is the Renetta apple, because with heat it becomes almost like a cream. If you prefer it to stay firmer, the Golden Delicious is the perfect alternative thanks to its balance of sweetness and texture.
Can you eat the apple skin?
Yes, and it is strongly recommended. Most of the fiber and vitamins are concentrated in the skin. The important thing is to wash it thoroughly under running water or choose organic fruits to avoid pesticide residues.
