✍️ STEP-BY-STEP METHOD
Follow these simple steps to get a rustic pie that’s golden outside and gooey inside.
1. Prepare the ingredients
Arrange all the ingredients on the work surface: puff pastry, eggs, mozzarella and cooked ham.
2. Chop the ham
Cut the cooked ham into small pieces.
3. Dice the mozzarella
Cut the mozzarella into small cubes.
4. Beat the eggs
In a bowl, crack the eggs, add salt and pepper and beat lightly with a fork.
5. Prepare the filling
Add the mozzarella and cooked ham to the eggs, then mix well until you have a homogeneous mixture.
6. Prepare the base
Unroll the puff pastry and line the pan lightly buttered, pressing it well against the sides.
7. Add the filling
Pour the mixture into the puff pastry base and spread it evenly.
8. Seal the pie
Cover with the top layer of puff pastry and seal the edges well, folding them and forming the classic rope with your fingers.
9. Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 25 minutes, until the surface is nicely golden.
Let cool slightly before serving.
A practical and quick alternative to bake the rustic pie without an oven.
You can also cook the rustic pie in an air fryer at 356°F for about 20 minutes. Always check the browning on top, as times may vary slightly between models.
