Fresh and Fragrant White Sangria

in

Today I’m bringing you into my kitchen to make a fresh White Sangria with a lovely aroma, perfect for the warmer days. It’s one of those recipes I often make when I have guests or simply when I want something light and fruity to sip and relax.

I love it because it’s simple yet always impressive: it takes very little to bring a taste of summer to the table.

My tip? Always use organic fruit and let it rest in the wine as long as possible: that’s where the magic of the flavor happens.

Let me know if you try it.

Fresh and Fragrant White Sangria
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 4 Hours
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 people
  • Cooking methods: No-cook
  • Cuisine: Spanish
  • Seasonality: Spring, Summer

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle dry white wine (750 ml / 25 fl oz)
  • 1 organic orange
  • 1 organic lemon
  • 1 organic apple
  • 1/4 cup sugar (50 g)

Tools

  • 1 Pitcher
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Apple corer
  • 1

Preparation

I make it like this — simple and stress-free.

First, wash all the fruit thoroughly since we’ll be using the peel. Slice half of the orange, half of the lemon, and the entire apple into thin slices and place them in a pitcher.

Then squeeze the juice from the remaining orange and lemon (I do this through a small sieve to keep the seeds out). Add the sugar, mix well, cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for two hours.

After the resting time, add the white wine to the fruit and return it to the refrigerator for at least another two hours.

At this point I serve my fresh and fragrant White Sangria, but not before adding plenty of ice.

Tips, variations and storage

I store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, because it tends to lose freshness and the fruit becomes too soft.

I prepare it in advance because it’s better after resting for a few hours.

Choose a fresh dry white wine that is not too sweet.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • Can I use other types of fruit?

Of course, I sometimes add peaches or strawberries when they’re in season.

  • Can it be made without sugar?

Yes, but I recommend adding at least a little, as it helps to enhance the fruit flavors.

  • Which wine should I choose?

I use a light, dry white wine so the sangria stays fresh and not too heavy.
