The stuffed pears prepared this way are a very tasty and light spoon dessert. In my dessert recipes one of the ingredients that almost never misses is fruit. Fruit naturally sweetens, satisfies and is zero Weight Watchers points, so it’s perfect for making desserts.
Pears obviously pair well with cheeses, as the well-known proverb says, but cheeses unfortunately have many Weight Watchers points, except for the softer, fresher ones like ricotta. So ricotta it is, plus a few other ingredients to make this little treat extra tempting.
Perfect to enjoy at the end of dinner but also great for breakfast or snack. For baking I used my trusty air fryer but you can of course use the oven as well. The recipe has two variations; let’s read on.
Here are a few more light spoon desserts for you:
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very inexpensive
- Preparation time: 5 Minutes
- Cooking time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 1 or 2
- Cooking methods: Oven, Air Fryer
- Cuisine: Healthy
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 1 Decana pear
- 1/4 cup light ricotta (or 2 tbsp (30 g) ricotta and 1/4 cup (60 g) nonfat Greek yogurt)
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- tsp slivered almonds (or 2 broken walnuts)
- Points for half pear = 2 WW points
- Points for the whole pear with only ricotta = 4 WW points
- Points for the whole pear with ricotta and yogurt = 3 WW points
Tools
- Air Fryer
Steps
Wash the pear well, dry it and cut it in half lengthwise. Scoop out the core by cutting all around and removing it with a small spoon.
Air fryer cooking: place the two pear halves with the cut side up in a tray that fits your air fryer’s basket. Cook at 392°F for about 10 minutes.
Oven cooking: place the two pear halves with the cut side up in a baking dish and bake at 392°F–428°F for about 15–20 minutes.
Whether you cook them in the oven or in the air fryer, the pear should be cooked but still firm and not mushy.
While the pear is cooking you can prepare the filling. Put the ricotta (or ricotta and yogurt), the cinnamon and 1 tsp of honey in a small bowl. Mix well until you obtain a smooth cream.
As soon as the pear is cooked place the two halves on a plate and spoon the ricotta cream into the two cavities. Sprinkle the slivered almonds (or the two broken walnuts) and finish with the other teaspoon of honey drizzled over the top.
A dusting of cinnamon and the dessert is ready to be enjoyed warm: ideal when it’s cold and rainy outside, it also lifts your spirits thanks to its inviting aroma.
I found these stuffed pears very tasty, both with the filling of only ricotta and with the ricotta-and-yogurt mix.
If you use only ricotta there will be less cream but you’ll notice more the contrast between cheese and pear. If you use ricotta and yogurt instead it will be creamier and the flavor more delicate.
I suggest you try both: which will you like more? Let me know in the comments.
Enjoy!
